CHAPTER SIXTEEN: DUNCAN'S STORY
“What happened?” asked Mrs Higgyfiggle curiously. “Well…” said Duncan, taking a deep breath. “One night, everyone was asleep. Well, everyone except me. I heard a creaking noise, so I got up. I heard faint footsteps from down the corridor. I got up from my bed, and went to go see who it is, but nobody was there. I walked to the kitchen and saw that the door was open. I walked in, and everything was lying all over the floor. It felt as though my heart was in my throat. When I walked to pick the things up, the door slammed behind me. I looked around and grabbed the door handle. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I heard the footsteps again, but this time, it was LOUDER. Suddenly, someone grabbed me. I tried shouting for help, but somebody had covered my mouth with a piece of cloth. They stuffed me into a bag, and…that’s all I remembered. The next time I woke up, I was lying in a cage, and an evil looking cat was standing in front of me. He had black, long fur and red eyes. He was also wearing a crown, like the kitten above us. He said he would come back to get me later and walked away… but he didn’t know I knew how to pick a lock. I got out and ran for my life. I have survived in this place since that happened, hiding in different places every time.” he said. Everyone was shocked.
