CHAPTER FOURTEEN: AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS

They all walked down in the darkness. Then suddenly, Heila hit her head on something big and hard. “OW!” she yelled, clutching her head. Hank walked forwards and knocked. The hard thing, which was actually a door, slid open. “Come in…” said a voice. They all walked in. They entered a cave that was dimly lit by candles. There was a mattress on the floor, and campfire, and a cauldron. There, sitting on the edge of the cauldron, was a white cat with black spots. “Ummm…Hi?” said the cat confused. He looked at Hank. “Who are they?” the cat asked. “Oh, just family…” said Hank. Mrs Hamilton came down the stairs last. She looked into the cat’s eyes and gasped. She ran and hugged him and burst into tears. “Huh?” said the cat, looking at Mrs Hamilton confused. They all looked at each other and shrugged.
